The Garden

This weekend was finally a nice sunny weekend and hubby and I planted our garden with help from my mom. We have a strawberry patch, tomatoes, peppers, herb garden, lettuce patch and planted several rows of peas, beans, beets and cucumbers. Also a few potatoes, squash, zuchinni, eggplant and kohl rabi.

My father and hubby spent a few days slaving in the yard to build me two 8 x 8 foot raised garden beds. They hauled multiple loads of dirt to fill them up. I'm so excited to see if everything that we planted will grow.

We even planted three blueberry bushes. Don't know if we'll get much yield off of them but it will be fun to try!

Surprise on The Deck

Yesterday morning my hubby noticed a pile of fluff in the flower planter on our deck. It turned out that it is a rabbit nest. I can't believe that the rabbit climbed up on our deck so close to the house to have her babies in a planter!

The sad part is that one of the babies fell out of the nest and died. I haven't got up the courage to poke around in the nest to see if there are any other babies in it. I'm just going to leave it be and let nature take it's course.

Crochet Bag

It is finally finished. My multi-colored crochet bag made with a pattern from Attic24. I also found the pattern for the flower embellishments here as well.

I really liked the muted colors Attic24 used in her bags. I would like to make another bag in slightly muted colors next. For this bag, I just used the colors I had on hand.

Easter Surprise

I just had to show the great Easter gift I got from my father-in-law. He is very crafty in his own right. He seems to know exactly what I like!

We hung the window frame in the garden and about 5 minutes later, the birds were all over it.

The wreath is hung by the front door. I love the way he is able to see little odds and ends like door closures, keys, hooks, locks etc and turn them into perches and decorations for his birdhouses and benches.

Thanks Father In Law!

A Nice Surprise!

Last weekend I found a nice surprise on my front steps. Hubby and I got back from our spring break and there was a plastic bag filled with some cool vinyl on my front steps. These records (picked up at Vee Village) were accompanied by a sweet card made by one of my favourite rubber stampers, Boom Boom (my pet name for her!). Boom Boom is very sweet and kind and often leaves little surprises on my front steps. She seems to have a radar that let's her know when to leave these surprises because they always seem to come when I need a pick me up!

Thanks Boom Boom! I'm going to party like it's 1999! I may even back comb my hair!

Life In The Desert

Hubby and I visited the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument while in Arizona. It is basically right on the border of Mexico. We went on a self guided tour of the park and took some pictures of the various plant life in the park. The desert was amazingly alive with color and life. Just wanted to share some of the pictures.

Reuseable Swiffer Cloths, Wayne Gretzky and The Grand Canyon

Well I sure enjoyed my spring break. The hubby and I flew down to Phoenix, Arizona. Spent a few days in Phoenix then drove up to The Grand Canyon, Monument Valley and Mesa Verde. We even saw Wayne Gretzky at the Coyotes game. It was a great get away.

While driving across the great state of Arizona, I whipped up three more swiffer covers. One is on it's way to Stewart Valley, SK for my uncle's wife. The other two are for the people who commented on my original swiffer post.

One more to make for my friend Hank in Altona. I'll start it this weekend.
